Unexploded Shells - Group show.

Here you can see pictures of some works that were in our group show called Unexploded shells. This show consisted of work of me. Georgina, Roger and Ryan.
It was a bit difficult for us to curate the show as the size of the room and its condition had to be regarded. I think that we did pretty well with the task although we definitely could have put less inside the show.

Also. on the two last pictures you can see some cakes i have baked for the private view, trying for them to fit in the title of the show. :)

Picasso at TATE britain

Today i have been to a show of Picasso. I really like that his works from different times are so different - cubist or completely realistic.
In the show there were a lot of different works including some of Picasso's sculpture and some works of artists Picasso was inspired by or reacted upon.
I have also enjoyed that in the exhibition there were designs for theatre costumes that he did an even examples of those costumes.

New works

The first of the new works is a painting that i did before going off to Paris for a show. It is of different sweets that i so much adore. It is sort of a candy inspired dream.

The next painting i did was a reaction to the exhibition in paris. I felt that the art shown there was sort of concealing the beauty and showing the ugly side of life. So, in this painting i made an illusion of it being covered in dust, concealed.

The last painting that i am planning to show at the exhibition is called "the unconscious painting" this is because it is a cut - out of my apron, where i wipe my brushes while i paint. This way the paint that is transferred onto my apron unconsiously. I found the paint on my apron interesting, so i did this piece.

Cy Twombly

Today i have seen a show by Cy Twombly. It was a very small exhibition with drawings from private collections. I did not particularly like the work, but as at the moment i am practicing drawing, it was nice to see such a different approach.

Modern Art and Pop Culture at Musee De La Halle StPierre, Paris

This weekend i was very lucky to go to Paris to see a show of modern art and pop culture. It was a very big show in a gallery in the centre of Paris.
I have enjoyed the show greatly as there was a combination of grimy things that disgust me and on the other side some funny works or works about tattoo culture, of which i am a fan.
Most of the artist in the show are now very well known artists who work for many years now, so i found it quite interesting how most of the work relates to whatever is happening and is popular at the moment maybe even with younger people.
Another interesting fact i have noticed is many of the artists use strange materials in their work, mostly very new materials which makes the work even more of the now moment, i think.
Unfortunately, i was not able to take any photographs at the show, but i have bought a book, so i have most of the works from the show to look at for inspiration or reference.
