Roy Lichtenstein at TATE

Last weekend i went to see Roy Lichtenstein retrospective at the TATE and i absolutely loved it! I did not know how many different subjects artist actually covered with his unique style. I also really enjoyed his sculpture that i have never seen before. Overall - a brilliant exhibition, curatad nicely, so it is very easy to ingest the show. Very enjoyable!

Art in mind exhibition at the brick lane gallery.

Yesterday was the private view of the show, where i took photos of my work and work of other artists who took part in the show.
Today i was called from the gallery saying that they accidentally broke one of my pieces ( the gerbera) and i had to take it away to restore it. Hopefully i can put it back in the show soon...

New work

These are 2 more experimentation paintings i did recently. The first one is experimental because it is not my usual pattern style and made in different materials ( water-colour and gouache) and the second one is because i have decided to split the pattern between 2 canvases and also the size of it is the smallest canvas i have painted on do far!

Giraffe installation.

So, this is the installation for the poem Giraffe. I have decided to use some of my usual depression treating stuff here to sort of tell a story from the poem, but in my own words.
I like this work, but i have decided that it needs to stay in photo format as in 3D i think that giraffe looks strong on his own, so he will stay near as another piece at the same time

New work

This my new painting that i have called Biology as it does seem to look like a 3D molecular model that we used to build in biology lessons. It is done in my favourite pattern style, which, i think, adds to the title as well, because it consist of many element like biology, or life, does.
This one was born with lots of happy memories from holidays so, i hope, the happy mood of it will pass on!

Giraffe sculpture

So this is the little sculpture i have been working on for a while. I already said that its going to be part of an installation.
I have decided to go crazy on the idea of kitsch and decoration as i am always told that my work is quite decorative in a way, so here i have decided to embrace it.
I like the way it came out,. By being so kitsch so its tacky i think it sort of comments on the idea of over consumption in the modern world, but if put in the context of an installation it should react differently.

So, my plan for the installation is to use some personal things to actually comment on the poem personally, so, i will be taking a bottle of cognac that i drink, the little glass i drink it from and a box of tissues also used by me at home, and, obviously the giraffe.

I think that using everyday things also will minimise the kitschiness of the giraffe, so it should all be perfect together i hope :)

New work

At the moment i am working on a sculpture of the giraffe. I have made it from air - hardening clay and paper - mashed on top.

I have decided that this giraffe would be a part of an installation to represent the poem.
I think it will be nice to compare the different effects of the 2 works on the same poem as they will be very different in all senses and its hard to expect something now
